The Pakistan Army, like Pakistan, started virtually from a scratch on 14 August 1947, in the face of heavy odds. During these 50 years, the army, like the navy and air force, has evolved into a highly motivated and modern force defending the ideological and geographical frontiers of Pakistan. Today, almost 66 infantry brigades, 15 armored brigades, 30 artillery brigades, eight air defense brigades, 17 army aviation squadrons, all equipped with state-of-the-art weapon systems, organized under about 19 division HQs and 9 Corps HQs, stand alert and ready as to Warden of the Marches makes Pakistan Army one of the leading armies in the World, Pak army consists of state of the art weaponry and to control them she requires motivated Personal who have what it takes to Defend their homeland. Following are the procedures to follow to join the Pak Army.
Age Requirements: 16 to 23 years Serving Armed Forces Personnel (PN and PAF) 17-23 Years
Male/Female citizens of Pakistan Kashmir domicile holders and State Class-1 Citizens. (Candidates with dual nationality will have to surrender their foreign nationality upon joining the course otherwise their candidates will be cancelled).
A Candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate in any of the following:
- HSSC/FSC (Pre Engineering /Pre Medical)
- Senior Cambridge in five subjects and should have passed Physics and Math’s or Biology in “A” Level.
- Intermediate with Physics and any two of Math’s, Statistics, Biology and Computer Science. (Equivalence certificate in case of foreign qualified)
- The candidates with domicile and having actually been studying in Balolchistan, FATA, District Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Tehsil Bala Kot (Kaghan, Naran) of District Mansehra in NWFP, Tharparker and Tehsil Umer Kot in Sind, District Rajanpur, area of Cholistan Desert, Drawer Fort, Salamsar,Mojgarh, Dingarh of Punjab and Northern Areas, can appear with 45 percent marks.
Marital Status: Unmarried Male/Female citizens of Pakistan.
Candidates can either register through Internet or by visiting the Army selection and recruitment centers
REGISTRATION AT AS&RCS: Candidates will be required to report along with necessary documents to the following Army Selection and Recruitment Centers for registration/allotment of Roll No and date/time of written test etcetera. The candidates will also bring these documents on the day of test.

REGISTRATION THROUGH INTERNET: Particular candidates can register themselves on www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk. Date and time of test shall be intimated on internet for which the individual should have an E-mail account. Candidate will also be required to bring along necessary documents.
WRITTEN / INTELLIGENCE TEST: Written/Intelligence test will be based on multiple choice questions from English, maths, Pak Studies, Islamiat and General Knowledge. Candidates MUST attain working knowledge of computer as registration and tests will be conducted on computers.
Selection procedure for PMA Long Course
Intelligence/personality tests and Academics written test based on multiple choice questions from English, Maths, Pak-Studies, Islamiat and general knowledge are conducted at AS&RCs.
PHYSICAL, MEDICAL TESTS:
Physical Requirements: Applying candidates should be of height 5’-4” (162.5cm)
Physical Fitness: The candidates will have to qualify the following physical standards at the time of preliminary selection:-
(1) 1.6 KM Run – 7 ½ Minutes
(2) Push Ups – 15 repetitions in 2 Minutes
(3) Sit Ups – 15 repetitions in 2 Minutes
(4) Chin Ups – 3 repetitions in 2 Minutes
(5) Ditch Crossing – 7’.4” x 7’.4” with a depth of 4’
After succeeding and going through medical and intelligence tests, the successful candidates are given a call by the ISSB and are brought over for a 5 day series of tests in Kohat, Gujranwala and Malir( Karachi) any location near to the address of the candidate.
Detail Medical Examination: Candidates declared successful by the ISSB shall be put through medical examination at Military Hospitals closer to the home stations.
Final Selection /Interview: The recommended candidates by the ISSB will be called for the interview by the GHQ Selection Board to assess their professional suitability for respective discipline. Final Selection / Merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall performance of the candidates.
Bonds: Selected candidates will be required to sign a bond to serve the Army for an initial period of 7 years. The applicability of bond will commence on successful completion of basic military training (BMT) (Pakistan Military Academy).
On successful completion of Basic Military Training (BMT) at PMA Kakul, Candidates will be granted commission in the Army in temporary rank of Captain. Ante-date seniority can be considered under the existing rules.
